The 1920's Fashion Empire Invade & All That Jazz...

Good Evening There, Dolls..

I know the weekend is been and gone but keep those fashionable heads up!
As I have some gooood news! The fashion world has been swept off it's Louboutins by a new fabulous 1920's trend. Inspired by the new american series, 'The Boardwalk Empire' set in the 20's, which'll be hitting our small screens next week..

Also notably The King's Speech in which believe it or not the queen mum played by Helena Bonham Carter is a 20's fashion icon for this trend! The queen mum! I know. weird. Fantastic film, you must see it, daahhhling!

To work this look for daytime friendly go for a sweet ladylike look with loose fit dresses to wear with cloche hats, on trend billowing blouses and brogues, or wide leg trousers and tuck in a slinky blouse. This pink floaty dress gives a subtle nod to the trend and looks amazing with nude tights and brogues for daytime feminine sophistication.
www.dollydaydream.co.uk £36.00

Take evening inspiration, from the cool-as-you-can girls from Boardwalk empire, Gillian, Lucy and Margaret rock beaded or fringed dresses with furs, such as our 1920's inspired black draped fur coat £34.50 from dolly-daydream.co.uk
Wear with dark lipstick and curly of finger waved hair.. deliciously demure and secretly sexy is the idea to channel the iconic, glamourous women of the prohibitian era.
Catch you dolls later at the blue lagoon for a martini and a quick charleston..

www.dolly-dream.co.uk

Okay, lets get to business! Notebooks out and heads down.. These are a couple of my favourite new fashion trends for 2011 and key looks that will excite and inspire you..

My all time favourite trend of SS'11 is..... (drum roll)
The Seventies!!! yesss yesss yesssss..

Both Daytime (70's boho) and Night time glamour (70's sophistication) are incredibly chic..fashion key pieces are a rocking pair of high waisters, flowing maxi skirts/dresses, flared jeans or if your daring, hot shorts and
Chiffon floaty blouses to tuck into them. Anything floral is great flower power! Accessorise with a big floppy sunhats & headscarves footwear is of course Super,Super Duper high platforms!

I'm loving this cream crocheted cropped cardie £20.00 from www.Dolly-Daydream.co.uk
with a maxi dress and 1000 necklaces for day wear.. x

For evening wear, anything lacy! or Slinky! gowns, floaty dresses, with splits, huge sleeves, anything that falls beautifully, draping.. Just like this mint green chiffon dress with draping sleeves £31.50

Bring on Glastonbury 2011! can't wait! peace.

also super exciting this SS'11 in fashion is..
Motorcycle Chic(heritage biker)is the new take on the military trend!
The main fashion key material in this trend.. is of course, Leather! and The new take on last year's aviator, is the new quilted leather jacket as seen in Burberry's Spring Summer '11. Mix with neon pieces for a futuristic look.

Leather shorts and tiny leather minis and of course, leather pants.. loving this trend! Also key in biker chic is zipped sleeves, heavy boots. Ill be Mixing key leather pieces eg biker boots with ultra feminine floaty dresses, for a contrast boys meet girls look!

Last but not least in the slightest Sixties Lady-like.. is here to stay!

Peachy keen for prim and proper styling, and bring on the hour-glass shapes, calf length dresses and skirts,.. fuller figs and kitsch glamour, key pieces are kitten heels, mid length skirts and cropped cardies, accessorise your sixties glamour look with a slick beehive or sex kitten messy hair (bridgette bardot).

Get kitsch in this fabulous vintage polka dot blouse £22.50, tucked into a high waisted skirt and a scarf in your hair!

Take inspiration from Mad men, cinch that waist and rock those curves!

On that note, dolls, I bid thee farewell, thanks for reading, this gal is spent..
Love lots..

Coming This Week...!

Is it mid January already?! Have we all stuck to our New Years resolutions? I was feeling quite smug about keeping mine, no drinking during January, until I’ve just realised, literally 30 seconds ago, that I had a glass of wine before going for a meal last night. Where I drank coke all night, because I was determined not to give in…?! I didn’t even drink the whole glass! Outrageous!

Moving on … If you’ve visited Dolly Daydream in the last two weeks, you may have noticed that we’re not looking as full as usual. This is simply because we’ve been making space for our fabulous, (and trust me, it is going to be fabulous!) new Spring Summer collection, which is due on TUESDAY!!! As usual, I’m away in Birmingham all week, so I’ll be pulling out the Number 1 Dolly card (just kidding, Hel loves all her Dollies in equal amounts…except, maybe, Fran) and begging for things to be saved until my arrival next weekend.

This season, I’m particularly excited about the ‘Tangerine’ fashion trend! No! I haven’t been taking inspiration from The Only Way is Essex. Tangerine is the colour of the season (on clothes and dresses, NOT, I repeat, NOT on your skin!).

Having said this, I wouldn’t recommend this colour, in block, if you’re naturally pale either. If you are pale, and want to rock the Tangerine Fashion Trend, try it in smaller doses; a chiffon oversized headband, a clutch (Below, Marc Jacobs, www.style.com), or frilly socks, is a great way to inject the colour into your Spring Summer 2011 wardrobe!

We’re also in the process of properly putting the website into action. Yes, I also, have lost count of how many times that we’ve said this, but I promise, this time it WILL be done this time. It’s one resolution, I won’t forget to keep!!!

Keep checking our Facebook and Twitter regularly for updates of NEW STOCK!!!

Have a great week girlies!!!

Floaty Chiffons, Nude Tones, Acid Brights ... It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like SUMMER!!!!!!

We've reached that time again. When we're not quite sure what to wear, not just because we're in the between fashion seasons, but because, as always, the weather can't ever make its mind up!!!

Today, after throwing on four layers and a (faux) fur coat, walking to the bus stop, and then making my way back home again, (don’t ask!), I simply had to de-layer!!! Which I didn’t imagine I’d be doing for quite a while, especially given that one of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer is Layering!

It’s January, Tesco’s already stocking Mini Eggs (I can’t tell you how excited this makes me, not because I love Easter, I just really love Mini Eggs!) and we’re starting to get our Spring Summer Fashion collection in at Dolly Daydream!

After shorter days, darker nights and the blisteringly cold temperatures that we’ve battled with for the past five months, the acid brights and soft, floaty fabrics are being welcomed with open arms!

In the weeks to come, were hoping to compile a Spring Summer Fashion Look Book and trend report, of all the fashion trends that have inspired us this season, and what you can expect to find in the boutique, and of course on The Dolly Daydream fashion website!

Spring Summer 2011 is set to be an exciting year for Dolly Daydream!!! We’ll be celebrating the launch of our new mail order website and our blog, by giving away some incredibly stylish prizes. Follow us on Twitter and join us on Facebook for more information on how you can be in with a chance of winning!!!
